So many more booths are offering samples for sale this year, so I should have a pretty good haul to share during the Live next week. And one of the orders I placed told me it might actually arrive before I even get back to Durham! So new stuff coming soon…

That mushroom quilt! I just took my first ever quilting class at 66 years old. I am a lifetime embroiderer and want to fuse the two together. I’ve never even entertained the thought of adding crochet into the picture. Oh boy, how exciting to know there is so much more to learn. Also, “buying embroidery like I’m immortal” 😂 I’ve found my new mantra. Can’t wait to see your haul.

Welcome to the wonderful world of quilting! I am both a quilter and a stitcher and love to explore how to bring the two together. I actually found a designer at this year’s show that has lots of patterns that do just that & they are great. You’ll be seeing those in the shop in the coming months for sure!

So jealous of all the eye candy and creators you’re meeting! I bought the Truffle Duffel kit as a birthday gift to myself. Haven’t started, but it will be legendary when I make it. 🤪 Have a wonderful time! Can’t wait to see what you order.

Please share your progress with the Truffle Duffel! My sister and I had the book in our hands and were trying to convince ourselves that maybe if we split it up and each did som of the blocks maybe we’d actually finish it some day… One of the things I like so much about h+h is how accessible and downright lovely the vast majority of designers and creators are here. I’ve been to other industry trade shows where designers actually walked around with “handlers” and you could only talk to them at specific times in certain booths. Sue Spargo and Amy Oxford themselves showed me around their booths yesterday. Amy sat with me and showed me how to use her Oxford punchneedle. They were both so delightful.

Sounds like day one was a big success! I also bought fabric for my shop, did a bunch of shopping and a bigger bunch of networking (aka chatting with friends).

I’m so glad you were able to find some good fabric for your shop - there are so many amazing options to choose from. And I think all the “networking” was why I only made it through about 5 booths in 3 hours :) It is just so lovely to see so many folks I haven’t caught up with in ages in one place.

I know this sounds crazy but how many vendors have fabric made in the USA? I would love to see some of the old cotton mills restored and making fabric again.
